All inclusive: 9 questions to ask before you book
Star ratings don’t tell you the important part. What to check about the beach, food, drinks and rooms so an all-inclusive holiday has no surprises.
All-inclusive hotels vary a lot, even with the same number of stars. These questions help you choose.
- Which line is it? First line means the beach is right at the hotel.
- Sand, pebbles or a pontoon? With children, sand and a gentle entry are best.
- Is the beach private or public?
- All inclusive or ultra? Ultra usually includes more drinks and restaurants.
- Are there à la carte restaurants, and do they need booking?
- Which drinks are included, and how late is the bar open?
- When was the last renovation? A fresh refurbishment often matters more than stars.
- Is there a kids’ club, entertainment or water slides?
- How far is the airport?
